November 19th 2009 at Northview Christian Life Church the second Career Strategies event was held. Almost 200 people came and attended the event. Chris Reed the owner of CREED Improvements and the founder and organizer of Career Strategies stated, “I created this event to help job seekers in central Indiana learn the best practices of job search. We brought together a panel of HR professionals who did a 1 hour question and answer session with the attendees, then attendees got to take 2 of 11 classes offered during 2 break out time periods on a variety of topics key to a successful job search.” Additionally attendees had the opportunity to network with booth sponsors who were companies that could assist job seekers like career coaches, resume writers, recruiters, temp staffing agencies, and more. Here are some quotes taken from attendees, Sue said, “The event was so well organized and offered so much to so many” John said, “Thanks for a little hope to a weary soul…..” Collin stated, “I think, at the least, it provided a large struggling group of people with some great tools and hope”. Additionally Reed stated, “The applause and feedback we received told us we are delivering what is needed. My goal was to bring help, resources and hope to job seekers in the Indianapolis area. My main message to job seekers is to state: Your loss of a job is not the loss of self but just the loss of a role and your most important role is one of father, mother, teacher, friend, spouse etc… you will have many roles in your lifetime but you are needed and loved by many right now. You are valuable, needed and helpful so don’t lose sight of that as you seek out your next business role. Career Strategies is to be held quarterly at NVCL. I mentor kids at a charter school in Carmel for an organization called CFI which stands for Community First Initiative. CFI is a NFP that pairs student and business people to mentor those students from their junior to their senior year. I have 4 guys that I am currently working with. All 4 are on schedule to graduate this May. I went down to Greenwood this morning to take the guys from CFI and Redwall live breakfast. It was a lot of fun to sit with them. You can watch them live if you go to http://forkout.org and you can also donate. They are staying in the van till they raise $25,000 to support the kick off of their new programs in January. Here is a picture of the van.

Monumental Signage!

In this project we came to the assistance of our friends at Sign-A-Rama Carmel in helping complete the install of a monument sign in Noblesville, IN. We mounted slabs of solid surface material (fake marble) to the face of a stone wall and then installed the metal lettering. This isn’t an innovation but I post it because it shows our versatility, our ability to flex to the needs of our clients. Our client stated that others had not gotten this acccomplished over 30 days and we engaged and it was completed in just 3 days. (not 3 days to do the work but to have it totally completed). We are here to help with whatever improvement project you need to tackle. Let us know what your challenges are and my bet is that we will help you come up with a solution.

Deck Additions

When you buy a pre-owned house you find yourself accepting many things that someone else felt was the way to finish the house or make the house their dream home. Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of their dreams which just might be your personal nightmare. In these cases a general contractor can help you remake / remodel / renovate your purchased house into your dream home. In some cases your back yard environment can be augmented with a small addition to a deck or patio. Slight changes or tweaks to what is there now can be transforming. Changing home ownership from theirs to yours is the goal. In this case we added a small deck addition in order to give the owner the space for a hot tub or spa to be added to the deck. This project took 2 days and as you can see once this deck is stained no one will be able to tell that it all wasn’t built at the same time. This is the difference hiring craftsmen can add to a project like this. The new addition doesn’t stand out it blends in. If you need help with additions, renovations, remodeling give us a call and let us help make your dreams a reality.
