We at CREED Improvements want you and your family to be safe this storm season so we prepared some truth to dispel some myths about tornadoes for you. Indiana is in the path of “Tornado Alley”, a swath of states extending from the Southeast to the Plains. Although tornadoes can strike any time of year, most tornadoes form during the spring months between March and June.
Historically, the most destructive tornadoes strike in March and April. June holds the record for the most tornadoes in Indiana on any given day: 37, and for the most in a single month: 44. Both records were set in 1990, which is also the year for the most tornadoes in the state: 49. Indiana averages 20 Tornadoes a year.
Tornadoes often form in the southwest portion of thunderstorms- next to the part of the storm where heavy rain or hail is falling. If you observe large hail, you are under the most intense part of the storm. Take Cover!
We at CREED Improvements want help dispel common myths about tornadoes.
Tornado Myths
MYTH:“Tornadoes never strike big cities”
TRUTH:In the past several years, tornadoes have roared through several major cities including Miami; Nashville Tenn; and Fort Worth Texas. Despite folklore, no city or town has “Natural Protection” from a tornado.
MYTH:“Go to the Southwest Corner of your Basement”
TRUTH:Some studies suggest this might actually be the most dangerous place in your basement. If a tornado hits from the southwest, it could push debris into that area. No matter where you go, try to hide under a mattress or sturdy piece of furniture to maximize protection.
MYTH:“Opening windows will equalize air pressure and prevent an explosion”
TRUTH: Most experts agree that tornado-force winds will take care of opening the windows for you. Forget this old advice. Take cover immediately!
MYTH:Lakes, rivers, and mountains protect areas from tornadoes.
TRUTH:No place is safe from tornadoes. A tornado near Yellowstone National Park left a path of destruction up and down a 10,000 foot mountain.
MYTH:A tornado causes buildings to “explode” as the tornado passes overhead.
TRUTH:Violent winds and debris slamming into buildings cause most structural damage.
MYTH:Highway overpasses provide shelter from tornadoes
TRUTH:Take shelter in a sturdy reinforced building if at all possible. The funneling of wind through an overpass will actually increase the wind speed. Ditches, and culverts may provide limited protection from a tornado, but your risk will be greatly reduced by moving inside a strong building.
CREEDism: Things can always be replaced but your loved ones can’t, so be prepared and stay safe out there!

Another year, another resolution! Before you start sighing, let’s consider some realistic home improvement tasks that can strengthen your resolve.
They don’t have to be complicated, and you can make it fun. Why not gather your family for a brainstorming session? Give prizes to whoever comes up with the best ideas.
Here are a few simple suggestions:
1. Baby proof your house: You know a couple of those plugs are still accessible to your little crawler. Make a list of what you need and make your home a safer place.
2. Declutterize: Get rid of that ugly clutter. Plan a yard sale, if necessary. Just get that extra stuff out of there.
3. Solar system: Install some solar pathway lights that lead up to your porch. Nighttime visitors will thank you when they don’t bump into things.
4. Mean green: Go back to your favorite home improvement store and buy several packages of energy-saving light bulbs.
5. Faucet facelift: Let’s be honest. Those faucets in your kitchen and bathrooms are so ‘80s. Buy some contemporary faucets and either install them yourself or hire your friendly neighborhood handyman. New faucets can give your kitchen and bathrooms a fresh look.
See? Don’t you feel better about that dreaded resolution already? Want some help to keep those home improvement resolutions? Creed Improvements is ready!

That is the age old question isnt it? How many people do you have to tell your story to before they hear it enough that they will tell 2 other people? Well I can only tell you my personal experience. Don’t worry I will keep it very short.
Over the last year while working in business development for a great technology company I met and introduced myself to over 1500 people. Yes I didn’t add an extra zero. Through the network marketing group called Rainmakers (www.gorainmakers.com) I was able to attend over 12 events per month for a year. Do the math that is an average of meeting 10 new people per meeting for a year.
So I launched my new company CREED Improvements about 90 days ago. Have you heard of us? Well I sent out a E-newsletter and after 7 days it was read or opened by over 600 people. Immediately a buzz was created by my career transition. What happened was the phone started ringing. At first it was “what are you doing Chris?” but then it became “well my brother needs some drywall work done or my cousin needs a new concrete patio can you handle that Chris?” I answered every call with a resounding yes. Now 90 days later the calls are still coming in. I am a very blessed man. What else would you call someone being able to quit his job, launch a business and be able to replace his income in less than 60 days and then double gross sales numbers 3 months back to back.
Well I thank my God first, my wife second (for such loving support), and then I thank the network of folks that I call my friends and associates that a guy named Tony Scelzo by creating Rainmakers gave me a way to meet and get to know but more so gave me 1500 people who got to know who Chris Reed is. I am sold on word of mouth advertising its priceless. But know if I can do it anyone can but will you?
